Early Development Philosophy
At My Darling Doodles, we believe confident, emotionally stable dogs are shaped long before they ever go home. The earliest weeks of a puppy’s life matter deeply, and we are intentional with every experience during this critical time.
🐾 Puppy Raising – Early Development Philosophy 🐾
We begin with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) during the first two weeks of life, using brief, gentle daily handling to support early nervous system development. These early experiences introduce mild, controlled challenges followed by comfort and calm, helping puppies build a strong foundation for how they respond to the world.
As puppies grow, our large Breed program naturally evolves into structured, age-appropriate confidence building. From weeks 2–6, puppies experience gentle handling, short separations, new textures and surfaces, mild problem-solving challenges, and gradual exposure to everyday sounds — always at a pace that supports emotional safety and trust. This goes hand in hand with our mission to be an ethical dog breeder in New York.
We never rush puppies or overstimulate them. Instead, we focus on teaching them how to recover, self-regulate, and feel secure. Each large breed puppy is treated as an individual, and experiences are adjusted based on temperament, maturity, and readiness. Every dog breeder who is mindful and intentional about their program always puts the puppy first.
Our goal is to raise puppies who are emotionally sound, adaptable, and prepared to navigate the world with confidence.

🐾 POTTY & CRATE TRAINING FOUNDATION 🐾
At My Darling Doodles, potty and crate training are approached as an extension of early emotional development, not as rigid training. Our focus is on creating calm, predictable routines that help puppies feel secure, confident, and capable.
Potty awareness begins around three weeks of age as puppies naturally start to separate where they sleep from where they eliminate. As they grow, their environment is thoughtfully adjusted to reinforce healthy habits and independence in a gentle, supportive way.
Around six weeks of age, puppies begin going outside to potty and are introduced to consistent routines, including the use of door bells and positive reinforcement. These early experiences help our puppies associate potty time with calm guidance and success.
Crate training is also introduced around six weeks of age and is designed to feel safe and comforting. Puppies are gradually acclimated to resting in their crates with positive associations, structured rest times, and a quiet, cozy environment. Crate time is always paired with proper potty breaks and emotional support.
By the time My Darling Doodles puppies go home, they are familiar with routines, boundaries, and independent rest, helping make the transition into their new families smoother and less stressful. This is something that sets us apart as a large breed dog breeder in New York.
A Note From Me
I put my heart into raising each and every puppy here. These early weeks are something I don’t take lightly, because I know they shape not only the dog your puppy will become, but the relationship you will build together. When your puppy leaves My Darling Doodles, they aren’t just loved — they are prepared, supported, and given a strong emotional and practical foundation for life with your family. That is something I am deeply proud of and fully committed to with every litter.
Sincerely, My Darling Doodles
